A non-profit Think & Do Tank catalyzing global change. We inspire and teach people to think and act outside the box.
Humanity must quickly improve its ability to find new solutions for the significant societal changes ahead.
We need more people empowered by hope to challeng the status quo to find new solution spaces.
At Ask Why Labs, we believe in contributing to this vital mission. It's a problem worth solving, and we’re committed to giving it our all.
As academic researchers, university lecturers, business consultants, method creators, keynote speakers, startup facilitators, and entrepreneurs, we've seen what works—and what doesn’t. Now, we’re embarking on something entirely new.

ASKING “WHY?”
PROBLEM WORTH SOLVING?
At Ask Why Labs, we focus on Problems Worth Solving—pressing challenges like climate change, social inequality, and living beyond planetary boundaries threaten lives, societal stability, and economic growth. Despite ongoing efforts, these issues often lead to a lack of hope and a scarcity mindset, further intensified by events like the COVID-19 pandemic and geopolitical conflicts. This mindset can stifle innovation and action, resulting in limited progress.
Individuals need hope and confidence to drive change, while organizations require more than just tools and skills—they need experiences that spark action. Traditional methods, like training programs, often fall short by clinging to outdated models rather than fostering new ways of thinking.
As a non-profit organisation, we can address problems without the limits of traditional corporate structures.
Our approach is to enable others to see connections, opportunities, and resources, fostering hope and creating impactful solutions.
Instead of relying on a few specialized organizations to define and solve problems, we believe in open knowledge sharing and collaboration.
Together with our partners, we aim to empower a 10 million people to think creatively and address the unique challenges in their communities. We aim to democratize and widely expand access to innovation and its creation.
How might we inspire a billion people to challenge the status quo?
A physical space to step
outside the box?
We drive impactful projects that openly share new skills, tools, thinking and hope. These include bespoke initiatives, including The Exhibition of Actionable Hope (coming soon). The exhibition will be a one-of-a-kind physical space that seamlessly integrates a laboratory, an engaging exhibition, and a facilitated design sprint into a never-before-seen immersive experience. The exhibition inspires hope and action by identifying pressing issues and creating immersive experiences that encourage individuals to reconsider their perspectives and approaches. We empower them to effect positive change by adopting new tools and viewpoints.

The Ask Why Labs innovation process is broadly shared when we invite others to use it through various services, including keynote presentations, public talks and training. Our process uniquely merges focus areas including Societal Business Design, Leadership and Organisational Transformations, Future Proof Skills and Organisations, and Creating Sustainable Learning Organisations. We apply our expertise in the design and facilitation of comprehensive study programs and curricula tailored for organizations and education institutions worldwide, helping them strategically plan their skills transformation for a more sustainable and hopeful future.
New skills
We understand that the skills required for a better tomorrow involve integrating business, technology, individuals, and societies. Traditionally, these have been separate disciplines and separate professions. There is a significant need for skills that bridge these domains to develop holistic solutions that actually make a positive impact. We consider ourselves experts in this area as we have worked with meta-skills and multidisciplinary teams all our professional lives.
New thinking
We know that new thinking is imperative. Bridging and blending traditional skills requires innovative thinking. Leading diverse groups, facilitating collaboration, and developing adaptive teams and organizations necessitates a new mindset. Anyone who has lived through digitalisation, the pandemic, and other major transitions knows this. We know this by heart because we have facilitated hundreds of businesses and thousands of professionals into thinking outside their conventional headspace.
New tools
We recognize the abundance of tools and frameworks available for everyone, whether for graphic design, business model planning, web store setup, or understanding the ethics of innovation. New tools continue to emerge, considering changes brought by AI and sustainability transitions. We pride ourselves on our history in creating these tools and providing access to them for many years.
New hope
We know that everything relies on hope and motivation. The more our societies are automated, the more they rely on people’s mental capacities. This boils down to personal motivations, values, and visions for tomorrow. Without hope, there is little drive for positive change. We believe that hope grows in supportive, psychologically safe and collaborative organisations. We believe that the world can be a better place if enough people think it can. (We believe hope requires holistic well-being and a meaningful life for an individual person. We believe that ethically sound principles and decisions nurture hope. Finally, egalitarian and democratic societies are the foundation for all this - collaborative organisations, meaningful lives and ethical decision-making.)
